Well Pumps
Energy Saving Tips:
- Make sure your pressure tank is not waterlogged (proper air change). If tank is waterlogged, it will cause the pump to start and stop continuously during pumping cycle. Well pumps use a lot of energy in the start mode.
- Most submersible pumps have similar efficiencies, so make sure your well pump is properly sized. People often have a 3/4 HP at 1850 wh (30 min of pumping/day, 350 kWh/yr. Often, a service inspection will find that you'll only need a 1/2 HP at 1300 wh = 240 kWh/yr.
- Make sure you don't have water leaks (e.g. faucets or toilets). Households can drip 2-3 gal/min, causing the pump to run and waste energy.
