The Home Energy Saver Library: Construction Standards
- Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP)
- BCAP was established in 1994, as a joint initiative of the Alliance to Save Energy, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, and the Natural Resources Defense Council. Support for this website and for BCAP's advocacy and technical assistance work comes from the US Department of Energy.
- Model Energy Code
- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) provides support for the Model Energy Code (MEC). DOE supports the MEC by developing compliance materials (called MECcheck) that simplify its use and by promoting training. The MECcheck Software (IBM-compatible) does all the necessary code compliance calculations. The MECcheck Prescriptive Packages show insulation and window requirements at a glance. The MECcheck Manual includes forms, checklists, and worksheets for documenting compliance. The MECcheck materials can be downloaded at no cost.
The U.S. Department of Energy's Building Codes Program
- DOE's Building Energy Codes Program is an information resource on national model energy codes. We work with other government agencies, state and local jurisdictions, national code organizations, and industry to promote stronger building energy codes and help states adopt, implement, and enforce those codes. The Program recognizes that energy codes maximize energy efficiency only when they are fully embraced by users and supported through education, implementation, and enforcement. DOE provides the ResCheck computer program for code compliance
